LIFE(Life Cycle Information for E-Literature)
The LIFE project, a partnership between the LIBER Access and Preservation Divisions, is a JISC-funded project, undertaken under the auspices of LIBER, to develop a methodology to calculate the long-term costs and future requirements for the preservation of digital assets. Phase 1 of the project culminated in an international conference in London in April 2006, and a full Report on findings has been published.
The LIFE Team submitted a second bid for continuation funding to the JISC, which has also been funded. Phase 2 of the project is:
- investigating further case studies for lifecycle and preservation costs
- finalising the economic modelling with the help of an academic economist
- looking at digital preservation costing for digitisation projects
- comparing the Project’s findings in a digital environment with those for analogue
materials
See the LIFE website for further information.
