Google Book US Settlement Agreement delayed

A few weeks ago LIBER attended the Brussels Google Book Settlement Hearing, organised by the European Commission.

A New York judge has however put "Google's vision of creating the world's biggest digital library" on hold and send the $125m agreement, worked out last year, back to the drawing board (Source: BBC News, Silicon Valley, "Judge delays Google books hearing" by Maggie Shiels, Friday, 25 September 2009); see also "Google Books Settlement Delayed Indefinitely" by Miguel Helft, New York Times, 24 September 2009.

LIBER, in close collaboration with EBLIDA and IFLA, will continue to follow this up in order to assure that a new settlement will take into account the interests of European research libraries, researchers and students. We will keep you informed!
