Reinventing Collections: Challenging Our Assumptions

Leuven University Libraries, Leuven, Belgium
Sponsored By: The Charleston Company and Against the Grain
Hosted By: Leuven University Libraries and Casalini Libri

The 12th Fiesole Retreat is devoted to examining changes that are affecting collections and how we approach collection development today. Sessions will address the Economics of Scholarly Publishing, Digital Publishing in the Humanities, International Projects and Perspectives, and New Metrics and Statistics Regarding Usage. And we’ll ask the question: “What’s NOT Keeping Us Awake Anymore?” This year’s retreat continues many of the
major themes that emerged from our 11th Retreat in Glasgow and will present a broad-based look at where we are while making informed suggestions about where we should be going.

The Charleston Conference Retreat is the latest in the series of retreats which started more than ten years ago in Fiesole (Florence). It is a small conference (typically 70-80 attendees) where relatively senior people from the library, publishing, higher education, IT fields (the information world) can come together and discuss trends and policy.
