About LIBER

LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche) is the main research libraries network in Europe.

Founded in 1971 as the Association of European Research Libraries, the 'Association' was dissolved at the Annual General Assembly in Toulouse, France, on Friday 3 July 2009, to make way for the 'Foundation' (Stichting LIBER), with its registered office in The Hague, The Netherlands.

The official history of LIBER as an Association is currently being written by Professor Esko Häkli, former LIBER President (1994-1998). Publication is due late this year or early in 2010.
